Eye Wrinkle Treatments Confront The Signs Of Aging
This is a major growth area for those cosmetics and biotech companies devoted to finding treatments for the age old problem of crow’s feet.
Wrinkles form around and under eyes as a result of years of making facial expressions, and they are very difficult – if not impossible – to avoid altogether. We all have to make facial expressions. But there are other steps that can be taken to extend the natural life of wrinkle free skin around that area of the face. As with all good skin care advice, it is a good idea to limit the amount of sun exposure you get, and to make sure you wear sunscreen when you are in the sun.
Sun protection is the first line of defense
A good facial cream that includes sun protection is a good idea for daily use. And there are other well known culprits including pollution and cigarette smoking. Too much alcohol, sugar and other dietary habits can also cause inflammation of the skin that leads to longer term skin issues down the road as well. So there is a lot that can be done on the preventative level that does not include expensive treatments.
One other important, and often overlooked step you can take to reduce eye wrinkles is to wear sunglasses when out of doors. Sunglasses not only help to protect the skin around the eyes, they also provide important UV protection to the eyes themselves, and increasingly eyes are recommending that patient wear sunglasses on this basis.
Range of medical procedures for eye wrinkles
But there is also a range of medical procedures as well. Recent developments in laser treatment of skin issues have led to effective treatments for the delicate skin around the eyes. The N-Lite laser, developed by ICN Pharmaceuticals, based in Costa Mesa CA, is one such option. These treatments work by increasing the amount of collagen production in the area; loss of collagen occurs in skin that is wrinkled.
And creams that contain properties that promote collagen and eliminate the skin-damaging effects of free radicals are also popular. Creams that contain Retin-A have long been used, and effectively so, for wrinkles around the eyes and elsewhere on the face. But Retin-A is by no means the only solution.
Everyone’s skin is different, and their goals for treatment of wrinkles also vary considerably from person to person. So, it is a good idea to consult with a medical professional before launching on a plan.
