Treatment For Forehead Wrinkles Eases Lines

We all smile, frown, think deeply, puzzle occasionally. And we all have facial expressions to match these states of mind. Over time, these facial expressions can be locked in our faces, the sign of a lifetime of laughter, thought and problem-solving. In other words: wrinkles. And for many of us, the forehead is ground zero for the most noticeable of these wrinkles.

It might be hard to tell from the onslaught of treatments, “cures” and procedures for reducing or eliminating them, but wrinkles are quite natural. Wrinkles are, of course, part of the natural aging process. But one many of us want to avoid.

And fortunately, treatment for forehead wrinkles is near at hand.

Expresssions + genes + lifestyle = wrinkles

Genetics play a significant role in determining how much our skin wrinkles. And, there are lifestyle choices that also affect the skin. Wrinkles occur as the skin thins and elasticity diminishes throughout the course of our lives. Sun exposure, cigarette smoke and alcohol consumption can all accelerate that process. Many people begin to seeking treatment for wrinkles in their 30s and 40s, turning to creams, prescriptions, laser resurfacing, and injections that limit motion in facial muscles that lead to wrinkles (for example, around the brows), and fillers.

Of the medical wrinkle treatments available, Botox and plastic surgery are perhaps the best known. But there are other methods, designed to work with the body’s ability to produce more collagen, the substance responsible for creating strong, elastic youthful skin. One treatment is a cream, retinoic acid, which is applied to the skin for several weeks. This cream causes the upper layers of the skin to flake off, allowing new skin to form.

Eliminating wrinkle lines in the forehead

Laser resurfacing is also used to reduce the lines on the forehead. This process, which is usually administered while the patient is sedated, uses a laser to remove the top layer of skin. The net results, ultimately, is new fresh skin, but the healing process can be intense, with a month or so of significant recuperation required. Finally, there is hyaluronic acid, which is injected directly into the skin.

For the most part, the treatments named above work best as a preventative measure, though they do offer restorative results as well. None are designed to deal with long-standing, deep wrinkles. There are less extreme – and less costly – alternatives for forehead wrinkle treatment as well. There are topical creams with Vitamin C that will help minimize the appearance of wrinkles. These are found over the counter, but not all are made alike, and it can be difficult to tell if the product on the counter contains enough of the active ingredient to produce a result.
