No Reason To Run Around With Wrinkles Anymore

Seeking treatment for wrinkle problems was once something done only by women, only by older women and only by older women who never talked about it. All of that has changed. Procedures are just as likely today to be sought out by men, young men, and young men who have no compunction in talking about it.

Skin treatment for wrinkles is pursued by tens of thousands of Americans of both genders over the age of 30. Dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons employ a range of options to help patients maintain or restore youthful appearance to their skin, and people are availing themselves of these options in greater numbers than ever before. Treatment options have improved tremendously, both in terms of the range of procedures and products and in terms of the overall effectiveness.

Wrinkles will always occur naturally, as the skin ages and looses collagen, which will result in the thinning of skin and loss of elasticity. But the progress of skin aging can be significantly slowed by taking steps like this. A naturally occurring part of the aging process, wrinkles have become for both doctors and patients alike, a problem to be cured.

And pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies have responded to this demand by devoting significant resources to develop ever more effective treatments. But there are cautions. Some who have pursued these treatments have been disappointed with the “unnatural” looks that have resulted. However, millions also continue to sign up for these treatments and use the products.

Treatments to match your goals

For those with more aggressive plans for combating wrinkles, there are a variety of options on the market today, ranging from highly invasive surgical treatments to over the counter creams that can be purchased at the local drug or grocery store. While these products were at one time only marketed those headed into their senior years, today, people in their 30s and 40s are large consumers of these products.  Starting younger is a good way to take most advantage of the curative properties of the treatments.

Some opt for regular treatments, like Botox injections. These injections work by paralyzing the muscles in the parts of the face that are prone to developing wrinkles, such as around the eyebrows. The effective is not indefinite and some people receive regular injections to maintain the effects of the Botox treatments. This process can be expensive, with each treatment costing $500 or more.

Others pursue treatments that essentially give them a “new” skin, such as laser resurfacing. Laser resurfacing removes the outer layer of skin, making room for new skin to develop. This treatment, like many wrinkle treatments, is useful on tiny wrinkles, not those that are deep. However, this treatment, like many such treatments, require a significant amount of recovery time.
